Square Dance - A Finished Quilt and a New Pattern

I have another nephew on the way, which means I need to make another Baby Boy Quilt.   And I have been wanting to make another version of my Square Dance quilt for some time and this is the perfect opportunity!!!   I shared a few sneak peaks of me working on this at the Utah Quilt Fest and I am so excited to get to share the finish today!!!  So here it is, a Square Dance baby boy version all ready for a sweet little boy to be wrapped in!!

I used my Road 15 by Sweetwater scraps that I had from my In Your Neighborhood quilt that I made a while back.  I just love the way the low volumes make the background so fun and scrappy.  I had been saving these scraps for sometime and this was the perfect project for them!!!

I just love the bold geometric pattern in this quilt and using a black solid  as the pop fabric really worked to do just that, pop!!!  I love it's contrast to the soft prints.   And I am over the moon excited about that low volume background.  I tell you what, I should do low volume backgrounds more often, because every time I do, I just love it!!!

And for the quilting, I did one of my favorite designs.   All over Swirl and Curl free motion quilting.  It really is so much fun, is nice and fast, and gender neutral, which is important when you are making an all boy quilt ;)   I used 402 So Fine Pearl as it blended perfectly into the prints and background, in fact it blended so well it was sometimes hard to see when quilting.   And I just love the way it pops on the black and gives it a little more depth ;)

And now it is all set to be tied up in a bow and given to my SIL ;)   I am so super excited!!!   Now all that is left to do is wait for the little guy to get here and then it is snuggle city!!!

And since I had to reconfigure the sizing of the original square dance quilt, for a baby size, I figured why not make this into a pattern, as it only needed an additional 2 sizing calculations ;)  So yippee, I am super excited to say that I have added Square Dance to the Happy Pattern quilt line!!!   The pattern can be found  found in my Etsy Shop,  and like all my new Pattern Releases, It is on Special!!!!  This week Square Dance will be marked down to $5.50!!! After that, it will be marked at the regular pattern price of $8.50 :)

The original Square Dance quilt was made back in 2013 and is the lap size.  It was made in Smore's Love by Eric and Julie Comstock and makes me want to go camping every time I pull it out ;)   This is such a fun and fast quilt to put together and I truly do just love everything about it!!   And it has been on my list to turn Square Dance into a pattern for about 2 years now, so I am so excited to finally get to check that off the "to do someday" list!!!

Like all my patterns, Square Dance has size options so you can make the quilt size that fits you ;)  You will find 4 size options, a Baby, Lap, Picnic, and a Queen/King size.  The blocks  really do go  together fast and it is beginner and expert friendly alike, perfect for anyone who just wants to have some fun sewing time  :)

And just like all my patterns, this is a full color pattern that can be printed in either page format or book format.  It is filled with lots of wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun putting this together ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to email me ;)

And that is the new Square Dance quilt and pattern and I am so excited to release it !!!!  Again, the pattern can be found  found in my Craftsy Shop or in my Etsy Shop and will be on special for $5.50 all this week ;)

Thanks for popping in today and I hope you have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!

Linking up my Square Dance Baby Quilt finish to Amanda's and Sarah's and Myra's :)
