I studied German for six years, which helped me 20 years after I graduated college when I was stationed in Germany. But I was an exchange student in Sweden during my senior year of high school. I went over not knowing any Swedish and 43 years later, I can still speak a rudimentary amount. Of, and for giggles, I've also studied first century Greek.

ReplyDeleteI took French for many years but when I went to Paris everyone spoke English so I didn't get a chance to practice it.
ReplyDeleteMy parents were both born in the Netherlands, so I speak some Dutch. My husband grew up in a German-speaking home (and German is fairly close to Dutch), so we could talk in front of the kids and they had no clue what we were talking about! However, the kids and I took French in high school, but my husband took German; so, if we wanted to keep dad OUT of the loop, we spoke French! Trying to keep all those different languages apart gave us lots of laughs as sometimes French words popped up in German or English conversations....
ReplyDeleteThe only other language I talk is the one my 1 year old grandson talks! :) haha!
ReplyDeleteI follow them already but didn't know about thier newsletter...signed up!
