I am so very excited to share my newest finish, the Moonstones Quilt, along with the free Moonstones Quilt PDF Pattern to go with it!!!! I have had this fun Curved Star Design in my head for a long while and am thrilled to see it come to life. I just love piecing curves, and this is a great quilt to start learning them if curves are brand new to you!!! It's perfect for beginners and experts alike :)
The Moonstones Quilt is made with Modified Drunkards Path Units and No Waste Flying Geese. I love using my Modified Drunkards Path Templates to make cutting the curves a breeze!! (yup, I made this pattern with the same size MDP Units as Nordic Nights so your templates will work for both!!) And if you are new to curved piecing, or just need a refresher course, there is a step by step tutorial right here on cutting and sewing the curved units :) So great!!! Oh, and there is also a No Waste Flying Geese Step by Step tutorial as well :)
This Moonstones Quilt features the new Whimsical Romance fabrics by Keera Job for Riley Blake Designs . And they are the reason this quilt finally went from picture in my mind to quilt. When I saw them, I knew they would be just perfect for this Moonstones Quilt and assigning myself a deadline date to post this quilt is what finally made it happen. (please tell me I am not the only one that gets quilts done just in time for the deadlines) I made the lap size quilt that uses 15 Fat Quarters, yup, this quilt is totally Fat Quarter Friendly!! I just love these colors and prints, so pretty!!
I made the lap size quilt that uses 15 Fat Quarters, so I used 15 colored prints and am saving the 3 low volume prints for a future low volume project :) I just love these colors and prints, so pretty!! And all of the size options are Fat Quarter Friendly, making this a great project to grab a bundle and get cutting and piecing!!
When it came time to quilt it, I decided on my Wavy Peel design. This is a perfect design for a quilt that is mostly a grid of squares so it makes it easy to stitch. And I just love how much this design adds to the block, it really makes the centers just pop!!! And of course, I used my favorite 402 So Fine thread that blended perfectly into the background and on all the prints, yup, its my all time favorite color ;)
