Jelly Roll Gems for National Sew a Jelly Roll Day!!

I am a little late posting this here, but I was out of town all last week teaching at Garden of Quilts ;)  But in honor of  National Sew A Jelly Roll Day, that was Saturday,  here is my finished Jelly Roll Gems Quilt !!  Oh, so much fun ;)

You all know how I just love Shortcut Quilts!! And Jelly Roll Gems was no excpetion.   With the Free Pattern  and a Jelly Roll of your choosing you can have this whipped up in no time.  Kimberly has even made a You Tube Tutorial to walk you through it ;)    And of course, this original Jelly Roll Gems Quilt Kit is availalbe at Fat Quarter shop if you want to make it just like Kimberly's ;)  

My version is super happy and bright!!   I used a Tula Pink Floral Reef Jelly Roll and then got a little extra of the Deep Dive Wave print so that I could use it on all of the Flying Geese units as well as my binding.  I love how it just grounds all of that happy color.   I also decided to go for a more scrappy look with my rows being all mixed up rather than the same prints across the row.   I think it just fits the fabric more ;)   And of course, I had to use a Happy and Bright Tula Background.   It is the perfect finish for this happy quilt. 

And I decided to quilt it with an all over loose feather design.  I think it adds to that whole "reef" theme as it can easily look like seaweed.   And of course, this is a super fast design to quilt and that was a big bonus as I was trying to get this done before leaving out of town ;)   I just love all the extra movment it gives to the quilt ;) 

And that is the new Jelly Roll Gems Quilt, and I just love it so much!  It finishes at 60" x 60" so it is going to make a wonderful happy lap quilt.   I just might have to keep this one fore myself as I just keep smiling everytime I see it hanging on the banister.
