July??

So I have decided that July is just busy.  That is what it comes down to.   I think I will gone in July more than I am home.  (although they are for family reunions so that is good stuff too!!)  So yes, very, very little time for sewing.  In fact, so little time that . . .

My Metro Hoops blocks are still sadly shoved in my travel box waiting to be pressed.  I am seriously embarrassed to even show this picture, but hey, let's keep it real ;)

And my Christmas tree quilt has been waiting for a binding for 2 weeks now.  The binding is made, I just can't get it on the quilt ;)

But I have been able to squeeze in a bit of time in the sewing room, but it is some of that "secret sewing".  (deadlines are the ultimate motivator :)   I will tell you, it involves these fabulous swiss dots from Riley Blakes Basic Collection and the secret will be out soon.   Tutorial coming next week :)

Have a Happy Quilting Weekend!!!   And just for my own sanity, is your July insane as well??  Is it just the month where no one gets to sew??

  1. Ah yes sweet memories.Back in the day when our children were at home, July was always busy with vacation plans and so many summer activities. My husband & I are retired now and have plenty of time to do whatever we wish to do but we sure miss those times!

  2. Looking forward to the tutorial. I recently bought quite a bit of dotted fabrics.

It's been a little off-kilter for us so far this month with the 5yr old getting her tonsils out last Monday. Schedules are whacky with her out of day care and taking meds around the clock. We should settle into a new routine soon though, as school starts Aug 7 and this will be her first year in "big school". She's looking forward to it. And our littlest one has her first birthday party coming up tomorrow, so that will be a lot of fun.

  3. July is busy, I truly agree! I try to grab time here and there but "quilting season" won't officially start for me until the days get short and the weather turns nasty. Enjoy the summer weather and the family festivities! ~Shari

  4. July, crazy, nah. It's beyond crazy here! 4th of July, two birthdays, wheat harvest, kid summer gymnastics, gardening etc, etc, etc. I'm so glad that it doesn't get dark till 9:30 so we can get as much out of the day as possible and then get up and do it again. Fall, school and winter will be here soon enough. Ya! for the new tutorial!!! I love polka dots!!!!

  5. I actually get a lot of sewing done during July (sewing entries for the fair that have been left until the last minute...gasp!). I love July, and for some reason it is a quiet one for us when all the others are insane! Enjoy yours!

  7. July and August. Insanely busy. I know now not to expect a single moment in my sewing room. If I get there, it's a serious bonus. Enjoy your month!

  9. Between a lake cabin with my husbands family (but I did bring my featherweight along, and did do some sewing) and having to move by the end of the month, it will be a low sewing month.

  10. I'm right there with you on the class projects being neglected. I've been home from the Small Town Quilt Show for 2 weeks, and my projects are still in my suitcase which is still sitting out. Fortunately for me, I am heading to Kentucky for a quilting retreat on Tuesday, so my projects will see some love very soon!

  11. Those dot fabrics look yummy!!! ;-) Can't wait to see what is up your sleeves!! And sewing? Not alot, but not because we go anywhere. Summer is my Dh's busy time of work and we all have to pitch in and help when he needs us. I mainly make his deliveries, and at least the scenery is beautiful! ;-) Hope you get a little sewing time in, but take lots of pics while you are with family, because that is what you'll remember the most years from now. :-) Have a great weekend!! Hugs, H

  12. Love the dots and can't wait to see what you are up to with them. My last 4 weeks have been insane with little sewing but thankfully now I get a reprieve and can finally get back into my studio this afternoon.
