  8. I didn't live on a farm but lived in the country. We had a vegetable garden every year. I hated shelling butter beans and picking strawberries.

  9. I'm a semi-farm girl. We raise laying chickens (8 hens and one fantastic rooster). They are my chickens! LOL! Hubby does the gardening.

  10. I always wanted to live on a farm, but I grew up just outside of LA. In college I spent some time grooming horses. It was relaxing just to spend some quiet time with the horses.

  11. If I were a farmer's daughter, I wouldn't be a fan of anything in the cold! I'd have to either be in a warm climate or responsible for inside chores only during the winter!

  17. I am a farmer's granddaughter, but I didn't live close enough to participate in a lot of farm chores. I never envied my cousins who had to help change the water in the early morning though.

  66. All my female cousins were farmer's daughters. At the time they were growing up, they led poor, but happy lives. Almost anything would be better than cleaning up the pigs. Driving the tractor was very fun for me when I visited every summer.

  81. Yes, I am a farmer's daughter. It was a great way to grow up in the 1960's but I am happy to now be a "city slicker "because it's a very demanding life style. But I value the lessons learned from the farm.

  99. Our family lived with my grandfather on his farm. As a kid I liked picking strawberries knowing I'd be helping Mom make jam and all kinds of goodies with them. Didn't like feeding the chickens so much!

  100. I’m not a farmers daughter but I am a farmers wife! There are so many things to love about farm work! Planting in newly plowed dirt, relying on God to provide sun and rain, watching seeds turn into life, harvesting. But I love peaceful times of shelling peas and butter beans. And I love corn processing days when the whole family helps with different jobs. We make a party out of it!

Yes, farmer's daughter here (with farm an estry at least 5 generations prior); favorite: feeding bottle lambs, hosting a slumber party for my 13th birthday in the newly built calf barn, and singing solos in the nice accoustics of the cool milk room while scrubbing the empty milk bulk tank. Least favorite: smelly stalls and hot summer hauling of hay bales.

  158. I’m a farmer’s gaughter-in-law - does that count? Probably not, because by the time I came along, of course, nobody expected me to do any chores on the farm. My least favorite would’ve been just about anything outdoors in the summer, because I have a pretty severe heat intolerance! My father-in-law always made it clear that I Elsner NOT have made a good farmer! My favorite chore would’ve been anything to do with the animals.

  179. I am having a bit of a difficult time with the question because I am a guy. But IF (a very big little word) IF I were I would enjoy baking the pies and cakes for dessert for the guys that had been out working in the barns and the fields.
