ReplyDeleteI already have my 2018 quilting goals itemized for each month with an added incentive of an accountability deadline (a local quilt guild's meeting at mid-month). I started rotary cutting fabrics this morning for my January goal to complete Quilts of Valor tops, so the tops can go to a longarm quilter by the last week of January (quilts to be awarded to veterans in a June ceremony!)

Two goals only. 1-Prepare for a half marathon (I don't run btw). 2- decrease my UFO pile. Notice I didn't say run the half marathon or eliminate the UFO pile.

ReplyDeleteIt seems like I always have the same goals every year. Exercise more and lose weight.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to pick a fabric each day and cut a circle out of it. Hopefully, I'll also sew it on to a background square, using a sewing machine specifically set up for that. At the end of each month, the squares from that month will be sewn together and at the end of the year, all the months will go together.

A couple of things really:

2) Learn how to machine quilt with my machine and actually LEARN it
3) Try and learn to work at my applique a bit more
4) Try and learn to hand quilt

My wish is a personal one, that my son can finally be free from the destruction of alcoholism. He has struggled most of his life and is now in a rehab program. He has a one year old son, whom he loves very much, but with alcoholism, relationships cannot be maintained. I pray for him every day.

My only goal for 2018 is to get back to making quilts for my family. My beloved dog passed away back in Sept. and I lost all my drive to sew. He would always whine and try to get me to stop sewing (it was like a I had to appease him) now I don't have that missed distraction and I am having a hard time getting by into the mood. I want to start fresh with new inspiration.
