EEEkkk!!!! It's one of my favorite day's of the
year!!!!!! Today, is the announcement of this years annual Happy
Quilting Quilt Along, and I am so very excited :) And you
all know I love Stars and this year, we are making all the Stars in the Seeing
Stars Quilt Along!!!!
We are going to be doing basic piecing of course, but then this design also throws in some improve piecing, some machine applique, and even a bit of curves ;) So ya, lot of fun technique all tied up in this one quilt along and if you have never tried improve, applique, or curves, don't be scared!!! We are going to tackle them together and have a great time learning and piecing together!!! Doesn't that just look like so much fun!!!!
So like in previous years, there will be easy step by step
directions, but this year we are going to be on a weekly schedule as the tasks are broken down a bit more :) And another change,
because of the layout of this quilt, there is only going to be one size option
this year. I know, that's a big change, but it just didn't work to try
and take this random layout and make it into a whole ton of layout
options. So this year we are all making the same size quilt, which
just happens to be 80" x 80" so it is just perfect for laying out or
cuddling up with :) And if you want it a bed size, you can always add a border to make it 90" x 90" for a queen size bed.
Be sure to pop in next week for the Fabric Requirements, Fabric options in a range of colors palates and at a discount, and the reveal of fabulous fabric prizes that include weekly progress prizes and Grand Prizes at the end. But mostly, just be sure to join in for the amazing fun with fabric and friends!!!! The Quilt Along will run from mid August through mid October and is going to be oh so great!!! Here is the schedule . . .

Yay!!! I love your quilt alongs and I love stars so this is PERFECT!!!!! Can’t wait! Now to decide on fabric......
ReplyDeleteI think this will be great! I have been planning on using up some scraps making stars. I think this pattern will be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'll be joining in this year. I'm going to make a smaller quilt though. If you use one of the two pinwheel stars near the middle as either of the bottom corners, you would get a square quilt around 55in, I'm guessing. I love your design Melissa, 80 inches square is just a bit too much for me!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say I am interested and I have lots of bright colourful fabrics in my stash right now. I did sorta kinda commit to another medallion quilt finish in September. Can I do two without getting overwhelmed? I guess we will have to see. How long will theses tutorials/blocks be available?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interested in this one and am already planning colours.
ReplyDeleteLovely design! I think I can fit in a couple stars a week. I'd hate to miss the fun.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I’m excited to make this one!
ReplyDeleteYay I'm in! Love this design 😊
ReplyDeleteCount me in. Love, Love, Love this star design.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the middle of my very first BOM quilt (that I am making with my sister), but I'm incredibly tempted to jump in on this one too! I love all the stars and am up for learning something new!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this. It will be a bittersweet journey, but I think it will be healing, as the quilt I did in last year's quilt along was for my son. I showed him the unquilted top when he was home for Christmas and planned to finish and give it to him on his birthday in June. He was killed in a traffic accident in March and my girls and longarm quilter finished the quilting and binding so we could drape his casket with it. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss x
DeleteI'm reading this almost 2 yrs after the accident. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that you and your family are getting through the grief.
DeleteI love this quilt, but an 80" quilt is just too large for me. Darn it! Any chance for a smaller version?
ReplyDeleteOh my heck! I think I can, I think I can, I...
ReplyDeleteI may just have to make this! Looks like what I need now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're continuing your quilt alongs, Melissa! They are always a beautiful design and I love how you've incorporated lots of different techniques this time. I can't participate in this one because I have another one just starting, but I'll help spread the word on my blog.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Melissa! I'm going to make a Christmas quilt 😁
ReplyDeleteI think this will be my very first QAL - I just love it so much! Hopefully I can figure out how it works. I may need guidance from the experts.
ReplyDeleteI'm all in too! Read about the Quilt along from Julie :)
ReplyDeleteI want to play too....I will be using patriotic colors to use as a Quilt of Valor!
ReplyDeleteI just found the QAL on instagram last night. Definitely want to play along.
ReplyDeleteI an starting late but have the batiks fabrics for this one.
