I finished the last 3 of my Scraptastic Star Blocks
that I have been making as my Leader and Ender
s this year!! And I am so excited!!! But more on all 16 blocks in a minute. First, let's look at the last 3 blocks ;) The first one is pretty in Pink!! I love how soft this block is :)
The next block is Red. And this one has so many wonderful shades of red. I was really surprised with how many shades of red I had in my little stash of 2 1/2" squares. And I just love how much the white squares pop against all of those red prints!!
And finally, Burgundy. And I just love these deep, rich reds. And mostly, I just love that it was the very last Scraptastic Star Block
for my quilt!!! So do you want to see them all???
I thought so :) Here they are, my 16 Scraptastic Star Block
s all together!! And I have to say, that this picture just makes me smile from ear to ear. I love, love, love these blocks and I have had so much fun making them as Leader and Ender
s throughout this year.
Now all that is left is to make the sashing. Now my only decision is do I use scrappy black prints or solid black fabric for my sashing?? What do you think . . . scrappy or solid??
I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!!
Ooooh these are SO pretty and I cannot wait to see your quilt come together!ReplyDelete
I'd use one black muted print for the sashing/borders as you don't want to take away the entire focus of the quilt --- those beautiful blocks! Can't wait to see what you end up doing with the quilt top! Deb E / CAReplyDelete
Love the blocks together in the picture how the white creates a circle!!ReplyDelete
Ooooooh! I like the black.ReplyDelete
Love the black ... really shows of the blocks ... imho Beautiful any way you go that's for sure.ReplyDelete
I really love this quilt! I may do this as an RSC quilt next year. Love the black solid.ReplyDelete
Very nice design and fabric selectionsReplyDelete
My vote: solid black for the sashingReplyDelete
Solid for sure! Black looks perfect to me!ReplyDelete
Your excitement is contagious, Melissa! Seeing all of these blocks together makes me want to make them all too! I like the solid black sashing as it really shows off all the colored blocks!ReplyDelete
I'm voting solid as well. Keeps the eye on all of the different fabrics in each scrappy block. Can't wait to see the finished quilt!ReplyDelete
I vote for solid: and the blocks look fantastic!!ReplyDelete
I think solid would look best. Scrappy might take away from your lovely scrappy blocks. Love these blocks :)!ReplyDelete
If these were my blocks I would put them together without sashing. But since you are asking I would definitely go with black sashing Thanks for the pattern!ReplyDelete
I've really enjoyed seeing your progress with these blocks Melissa... I'm not confident with scrappy sewing & most of my attempts have been more like fabric vomit than scrappy... your project has shown me that scrappy can be beautiful, it just takes a bit of planning & clever placement. Thank you for that!ReplyDelete
your diagram using a solid black is the perfect choice -- really shows off the blocks beautifully!ReplyDelete
I vote black solid or a subtle print that reads solid.ReplyDelete
It's really lovely though, never thought of doing something with my scraps.
Those are beautiful!!!ReplyDelete
I love all of the colours in these stars. Whatever you choose for the sashing will look greatReplyDelete
What a fun quilt! (Lots of work, too!) Since you have solid white, you should be able to use either prints or solids without it looking odd. Were it my quilt, I would opt for black or darkest gray/charcoal on black prints to give texture without too much light, which could interfere with the delightful mid-sash 9-patch connecting your blocks (what a clever secondary pattern! I love it!)ReplyDelete
