2 New Happy Quilting Patterns!!!!

I am super excited this morning to share 2 Brand New Happy Quilting patterns!!!  So let's get right to it ;)  The first one is called Blossoming Stars and I know I say this about all my quilts, but truly, I just love it!!!  And it has curves, ya, I am so just loving curves!!!!  How could I not, they just make the prettiest petals for these blossoms :)    This pattern uses the same templates as Nordic Nights and Flower Child, so you are all ready to go!!!

So where to find the pattern??  Both the Hard Copy and the PDF version of this pattern can be found  found in my Etsy Shop, and like all my new Pattern Releases, It is on Special !!!!  For one week the PDF Patterns are just $5.50, the Hard Copy Patterns are $7.00,  and the MDP Templates are just $5.00!!!

And like I mentioned, Blossoming Stars uses the Modified Drunkards Path block that allows for all of those beautiful curvy petals!!  The pattern uses a three pin method to sew the curves, and again,  they are easier than you think :)  There is an easy to follow curved cutting and piecing tutorial here that walks you through making the Modified Drunkards Path blocks step by step!!

This version of Blossoming stars is made using Tulip Tango by Robin Pickens for Moda Fabrics.    Aren't the prints and colors in this line just gorgeous, so perfect to make these beautiful blossoms.       But of course, it would look amazing in any fabrics!!  Blossoming Stars is Fat Quarter Friendly, so you just grab a bundle and get cutting!!!!

And when it came time to quilt it I went all out with some custom quilting!!!   I quilted arches in the chain squares, swirls in the background, paisleys in the stars, pebbles in the center star, and feathers in the petals.   And Squeal!!!!   I am just thrilled with how it all came together.  So, so, so pretty and so much amazing texture!!!

And that is the Queen/King size of my new Blossoming Stars pattern!!!  I am just so excited to be able to share this design in pattern form.  And I love that there is now a third pattern in my Happy Quilting Pattern lineup that uses my Modified Drunkards Path Acrylic Templates!!!   So let me tell you a bit more about the pattern ;)

Like all my patterns, Blossoming Stars has size options so you can make the quilt size that fits you ;)  You will find 5 size options, a Baby, Lap, Picnic, Twin and a Queen/King size.  And like I mentioned before, it is Fat Quarter Friendly , and you just need to add a Chain Fabric and a Background Fabric.

And of course, I had to make a Baby Size version as well!!!  I really wanted to see what the quilt would look like with a dark background and it is still, a stunner!!!

I used Low Volume Fat Quarters from Songbook by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics and changed out the center star fabric to match the chain fabric.  It was a little tweak but turned out so cute!!!   Don't you just love how those Low Volumes pop on the Grunge Background.  And of course, the baby size is only 4 blocks so it is a great place to start if you want a quick finish or you just want to practice some of your curve sewing before you jump all in :)

And I quilted it with a fun loose feather, but instead of it being loose all over the quilt, I did loose feathers in a row.   Doesn't it just give it a fun vine effect.  I am so going to have to do this again soon!!

And before we leave this pattern, let's remind you on the Acrylic Templates!!!  First off, there is a paper template in the pattern that you can use to make templates from Template Plastic or Cardboard so you don't have to buy the templates.  With that said,  these acrylic templates are awesome!!  They are 1/8" thick clear acrylic, just like all of your quilting rulers and make cutting this quilt out so easy!!!    And remember, these are a template for a Modified Drunkards Path block, so if you have a regular Drunkards Path Template, they won't work for this quilt, sorry.

So with that . . . Let's move to the second new Happy Quilting pattern . . .

Swirling Leaves!!! You might recall when I shared this quilt as the Cover Girl for American Patchwork and Quilting . . . well, the wait is over and it is now a Happy Quilting Pattern as well and I have included size options!!!

Once again, both the Hard Copy and the PDF pattern can be found  found in my Etsy Shop, and it is also on Special with PDF Patterns at $5.50 and the Hard Copy Patterns are $7.00!

Swirling Leaves is such a fun quilt to make and is the perfect quilt for Fall.  It uses HST's, Stitch and Flip Corners, and basic piecing so it really comes together quick.   And it makes so big blocks, like as in 30" finished blocks.   Which is why you will notice, the size options are really more like 3 sizes, and then I have added borders to those 3 to make 3 additional sizes.  Really, there are only so many sizes you can make with a 30" block ;)

This version of Swirling Leaves is made using Grunge Fat Quarters for Moda Fabrics and you can see all of the colors I used in this post.   However, the cutting of the Fat Quarters was a bit confusing.   So I changed the pattern to be Layer Cake Friendly.  That way you cut each leaf from one Layer Cake square and it keeps everything easy and straightforward for matching up prints.    I really think you are going to love it and it also allows you to add lots more variety.

I quilted this version of Swirling Leaves with my favorite All Over Swirl.  I mean, if you have a quilt called Swirling Leaves, you might as well quilt a swirl on it, right!!!!

And I am just thrilled to now be able to share this Swirling Leaves quilt as a Happy Quilting Pattern with size options.

So let's see em.   You will find 6 size options in this pattern.  The Table Topper, Lap, and Queen sizes do not have a border, and the Baby, Picnic, and King size quilts have an included border to make the quilts the right size as I mentioned before :)

And so of course, I had to make a border version :)  I whipped up this Baby Size and I just love it with the border.  It frames everything so nicely.   And of course, I had to quilt more swirls on my Swirling Leaves quilt :)

The baby size is only 1 block so it really goes fast.  You can use scrap 10" squares as you only need 7 of them or just scraps all together.  I used some scraps from a secret sewing project :)  This is Slow Stroll by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics.  (Ya, she is my new favorite designer!!!)   Isn't this just such a pretty fall look, I just love all the rich colors!!!   It will be coming out in June so not to much longer to wait!!!

And I just had to share this fun extra I added.  I still had some scrap squares left over from my secret sewing, and I didn't want a single piece one to get buried in my scrap bins.   So I made an adorable simple patchwork backing.  Isn't that just so fun.   It truly makes it a reversible quilt ;)

And those are my new quilts and patterns!!!!

So let's have a few reminders to sum it all up ;)  Just  like all my patterns, these two new patterns are full color and can be printed in either page format or book format.  The patterns are filled with lots of wonderful illustrations to guide you along each step of the way.   You are going to have so much fun making these quilts ;)  And of course,  if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me ;)

So are you ready to start making your Blossoming Stars and Swirling Leaves Quilts???  Pop over to my Etsy Shop, to pick up your Patterns, and Templates.   Again, PDF Patterns are just $5.50, the Hard Copy Patterns are $7.00,  and the MDP Templates are just $5.00 but only until June 1st :)

And when you make your Blossoming Stars and Swirling Leaves Quilts I would love to see them!!!  You can email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com or add it to social media with  #happyquiltingwithmc ;)  I can't wait to see your Happy Quilting Quilts!!!

Thanks for popping in today and sharing these new finishes with me.  I am so very excited and hope you all love these new quilts as much as I do!!!!

Flower Market - HQM Quilt 7

It is Week 7 of the Happy Quilting Marathon and after sharing my happy Poppie Cotton bundle earlier in the week, I figured it was only fitting to finish up a Poppie Cotton pattern!!!    And didn't it just turn out so adorable!!!  This is Flower Market!

Isn't it just so pretty!!!   I used a cherished Fat Quarter Bundle of Olive's Flower Market (Same name of fabric as pattern, totally meant to be)  by Lella Boutique.  I just love Vanessa's fabrics!!!   I have sewn with almost every single one of her lines :)   I used just the black and pinks from this line, and I love how "all girl" it makes this quilt.  Truly, pink and black is a favorite color combo :)

I started this Flower Market quilt early last year for a retreat, and even got to take a class with Jina (co-founder of Poppie Cotton) for it.  I had so much fun making up each of the flower blocks, and  finished the quilt top almost a year ago.  Now it just makes me so happy to have it all done :)

When it came time to quilt it, I decided to just go with an all over loose feather.  I just love how soft and pretty this design it, fits the quilt just perfectly :)  And of course, I used  my favorite 402 thread so it blended just perfectly in both the black prints and the white background ;)

And I am  super excited to have finished this up right before graduation as this is going to make a special gift for a wonderful youth graduating this year.   So excited for her!!! I just love giving quilts for graduation, such a wonderful thing to take with you to college to snuggle up with while studying :)

And that is Quilt #7 - Flower Market ;)  7 Down and only 19 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :)   Yippee, I am in the Teens!!!!

And that is it for today, thanks for popping in to share this finish with me!!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Weekend!!

A Star is Born in Ombre!!!

Last week I mentioned I was starting some new Charming Baby Quilts . . .Well today, I get to share the finish!!!  This is a Star is Born and I am so excited to have finally made this quilt with a nice, crisp, white background.  Doesn't it just make those rainbow of colors shine!!

I was working on a secret project using V & Co.'s Ombre Galaxy, and when I had a 5" strip and a 2 1/2" strip left from my Fat Quarters, I knew right away it would make excellent Charm Packs and Binding Strips ;)  So I went to my Charming Baby Quilts book, and picked A Star is Born, because, like it said, I have really wanted to make this with a white background :)

I mean, how can I not pick to make this quilt every time, tee hee hee.   It truly has become a favorite of mine.   And it really goes together fast.  I made the quilt top in 2 days, while working on other projects as well.   And now I have a happy rainbow version to add to the collection of A Star is Born quilts.

This quilt uses Two Charm Packs and 2 yards of Background Fabric.  So really, we almost all have that lying around in our stash.   And don't you just love the scrappy rainbow binding, so fun!!   And I have just loved seeing all of the A Star is Born quilts you all have been making :)  It's so fun to stroll the #CharmingBabyQuilts hashtag and see all of your amazing quilts!!!

And when it came time to quilt mine, I opted for an all over swirl free motion design.   But I noticed that my swirls were starting to get to be only about 2-3 swirls deep, so I super swirled these and echoed them a whole lot more.  So fun!! I love all of the added texture it gives the quilt :)

I just love how this one turned out!!   I truly don't think I will ever tire of making this particular quilt.  It is just classic and makes such a fun gift.   In fact, I gifted the Nice Ice Baby version just last week ;)

I just love making Charming Baby Quilts and I will be sharing the other quilt I started soon, the top is done I just need to quilt it  !!!!   To see more of my Charming Baby Quilts Book, you can visit this Page, that shares all of the original Charming Baby Quilts as well as Free PDF's of each quilt in a larger size (just in case you are not in need of baby quilts) and a Free PDF of a Charming Baby Sampler Quilt.

Thanks for stopping in today :)

Happy Quilting!!!

Poppie Cotton Spring Market!!

If you have followed along for a little bit, you know how I adore Poppie Cotton!!!  Poppie Cotton is an amazing fabric company started by my good friends Jina Barney and Lori Woods.  Their fabrics are just beautiful and are wonderful to sew with.   The quality is fantastic and I just love all of their pretty prints!!!  I have been blessed to sew with many of their fabric lines for Fabric Tours (Including here, here, here, here, here, and here :)  so you can imagine how excited I was to receive Poppie Cotton's Spring Market in the mail this week!!!

And how adorable!!!   Poppie Cotton's sent a fun little treasure to go with each of their new 8 lines they will be releasing.   And I am super excited about the Barnyard Basics Color Card.  Those are so convenient to have when picking out backgrounds :)

And talk about a line up of amazing designs!!!  I am super excited for them all, and might even be sewing with a line already :)  Aren't those tiny squares from Songbook Serenade just precious.  I cant' wait to share the project with you later this year!!

It's sad not getting to go to market, but it sure makes it super fun when it arrives on your door step!!!  If you haven't tried Poppie Cotton yet, I highly recommend it.  You can find a list of quilt shops where you can find  it here.

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!

Seeing Stars - HQM Quilt 6

It is Week 6 of the Happy Quilting Marathon and this week we are going Patriotic.  Isn't this Seeing Stars quilt just so fun in beautiful red, blues, whites, and tans.   Just stunning.  And I had so much fun mixing all of the background fabrics in this one.  It was a little out of my comfort zone, but I just love, love, love the way it all came together!!!

I used a Fat Quarter Bundle of Minick and Simpson's Northport prints.   These are harder to find prints now, but Minick and Simpson and always making a new beautiful patriotic line!!!  (Love the new Belle Isle!!)    I started by separating the light prints and the dark prints for the backgrounds and the blocks.    I was basically doing a play on a low volume background, just using all of the "low volume" prints from the bundle ( or at least the lighter ones :)   I was a little nervous at first, but like I said, I just love the way it all came together!!!

This Seeing Stars quilt is a free Quilt Along that I did back in 2018 .  There are step by step tutorials for how to make each block, which includes curved piecing, applique, and even some improv piecing.  So fun and a great skill stretcher :)    I actually made this quilt top as a sampler for my local Cedar Chest Quilt Guild when I was teaching it there as a Block of the Month in 2019.  So ya, it has been sitting for a bit waiting to be quilted :)

And when it came time to quilt it, I decided to just go with a simple loop d' loop.  It is always fun to quilt random loops, so very relaxing, and also so very fast!!!  And considering I was quilting this last night, fast was important ;)

And I am just super excited to finally have it quilted, bound, and ready to be loved!!!  I have a special someone in mind for this quilt.  I know they are just going to love it.   Have I mentioned how much I am just loving this Quilting Marathon.  It just makes me smile from ear to ear to finally see some of these done!!!

And that is Quilt #6 - Seeing Stars ;)  6 Down and only 20 more quilts to go in the Happy Quilting Marathon :)   I can't believe the first row of pictures is all filled up, so fun!!!

And that is it for today, thanks for popping in to share this finish with me!!!

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!

Charming Baby Progress

So you might recall, I mentioned a little while back, that I was remaking the Charming Baby Sampler quilt (Free PDF Download of pattern here, just need my Charming Baby Quilts book to go with it ;)   with my Local Cedar Chest Quilt Guild and I am making a Happy and Scrappy version with a nice navy background to really make all those colors pop :)  Well we are 2 months in and I thought I would share my blocks so far ;)

First up, the modified A Star is Born Block for the center of the quilt.   Isn't it just so fun how all 5 of these charm packs from 5 completely different designs all play together so nicely.  I am just excited for this scrappy goodness to come together!!

Next, Color in the Lines :)    These are by far the easiest blocks to make in this sampler, and it will be fun to see them all bordered in navy when the quilt gets put together.

Then it's the Hugs and Kisses blocks, although, for the sampler, we only use the kisses blocks :)

And finally, 4 Dream Big blocks.   These are so much fun to make and I love how they turn out in all this scrappy goodness.   I am just so excited to see this project coming together ;)

And while we are on the subject of Charming Baby Quilts . . . I might have had some 5" scraps from another secret sewing project, and just started whipping up a new A Star is Born quilt!!!   I haven't made it with a white background yet, and it was on my to do list, so why not pair it with some beautiful Ombre goodness!!!  This one is going to be so happy when it is done ;)

And remember how my girls were just head over heals for the Cheater Print Picnic Quilt I shared a few days ago (along with the Free PDF pattern for it :)  well, I decided we needed another Glamp Camp  quilt.   So I am whipping up a Ring Around the Rosie quilt, but I am upsizing the block so it will make a nice big picnic size when it is finished. And I am just loving the Navy Background with these prints, it really makes them pop.   So fun!!!

So now I am off to my sewing room to work on these 2 Charming Baby Quilts above, and here is hoping I can share the finishes soon ;)   And I will be sure to keep sharing the Sampler progress as well.

I hope you all have a very Happy Quilting Day!!!
